747 Shuttle Transport

Scott Todd with NASA markings he so graciously whipped up on his vinyl cutting machine.

This is the new depron 747 purpose built to haul an R/C Space Shuttle for in-flight release. It flies well, has EFlite retracts, and operates out of The Chandler Bowl with ease. It was built to scale based on Scott Todd’s Shuttle kit that he manufactured in the mid 1990’s. I’m

After 747 test flight. The actual shuttle to be used will be larger.

building a depron rendition of it using the vacuum molded plastic parts from the original wood and Monokote version.  More details to come………

Tyler Perry’s Shout Out On Jimmy Fallon Show

This was a few years ago after I sold Tyler a few of my big depron airliners. Not long after this interview, we hung out at his house in Atlanta on one of my layovers. He was building a 300′ R/C runway in his backyard at the time next to his pool. He was in the process of building a similair runway at his L.A. house. Really cool dude: very chill, down to earth. Guy loves R/C and is a pretty solid pilot. Last I talked to him he bought an island in the Caribbean and was planning on taking his EFlite Beaver and other seaplanes down there.

Trans-Texas DC-3

This is the original depron DC-3 that is shown in my videos towing gliders and dropping parachutes. I repainted it in TTA colors, the airline my Grandad flew for ( it became Texas International and was merged into Continental in 1982). I found the decals in a hobby shop in Dallas in 1/72 scale and blew them up at Kinko’s on to clear label paper.

HAL DC-3 1950s Livery

This is the new DC-3 I built in Dallas from the card model my original PHX DC-3 is derived from. Powered by two ParkZone Corsair engines and two 30 amp speed controllers, it hauls a single 2100 milliamp 3 cell for 20 minute flights. All depron construction with decals made from side view photos of a Gemini Jets die cast 1/250th scale HAL DC-3 display model. Video will be up soon.-Mike

Hobby King CL-415 on Lake Grapevine

This is the Hobby King Canadair CL-415 waterbomber. The kit, minus engines and servos/speedcontrollers, is around $50. It is an ARF, comes prepainted, and includes servo extensions and a buttload of hardware. It flies on a 2100 mah 3 cell and the performance is stunning. Probably the finest seaplane kit I’ve ever bought, I highly recommend it.

This footage was shot with an iPhone so excuse the crummy resolution. -Mike
